OMG, I chose a boyfriend in Top Girl

I've tried CrowdStars iPad app Top Girl - same graphics and shopping as in their previous facebook app It Girl, but now with focus on a boyfriend. What a sad story, and yet reckoned to be a huge success. You create your avatar from a few botoxed western Hollywood actress looking features, dress for success to find a boyfriend who will bring you all luck in the form of gifts. In my heart I hope that it is not primarily the game itself, but rather the now classic and well implemented game mechanics that make the girls get started, bring in all their friends and return.

Send your friends gifts on Facebook and maybe they will send you some back - check
Shops not available at this level, work your way up or pay to get there now - check
Return in x hours to attend your relation - check
Share every one of your steps for all your Facebook friends to see - check

But then I guess the message below is one that few girls can resist... (from Facebook Top Girl app)

Master of Recycling

I'm dreaming of a recycle app that
- points out all and the nearest Recycling stations
- lets me check in when recycling so that everyone sees how good I am
- gives me points for recycling and displays the best recycler every week/day/year
- includes a competition of the most used station to indicate the good behaviour of the entire community I live in, and preferable list all recyclers who check in at this station making our good work progress
- lets me send in photos at poorly maintained stations

I want to become the master of recycling!

Take care of the smurfs for me today

When I started to play Farmville I got that 'aha' feeling. This is how it should be done. Today I say ok, every game can't be done exactly the same, it's not fun in the long run. But here is a version with those additions making it wonderful. The foundation is the same but as the Smurfs got a known history there are so many stories to build on. The presentsmurf brings me presents ever day, the firesmurf puts things on fire. There are different houses to buy/build for different effects and reasons. This is to me an improved and updated version of Farmville. Plus that the smurfs are lovable and always have been.

Only for Children's apps for iPad

Playing games with your kids can be really fun, or really stressful and enervating. Much of the pain comes from playing games suited for another age. It's amazing how exact the development of the mental skills are, they differs from month to month. A game that didn't work this summer, can be perfect only a few months later.

Before I've listed some iPad apps that works fantasticly for both 2 year olds and moms. Creative games tend to be fun for any age if you like the theme. The same goes for leasure for fun games that don't require any preknowledge to perform.

These three games below completely stress me out right now as Zack, 2,5 years old, love them, but doesn't fully understand them. He's just tapping the screen making things happen without any strategy or improvement. This kind of games are much more age specific - great and developing for the exact targetgroup but not as fun for others.

Itsy Bitsy Spider 7 kr

An interactive sing-book giving respons when finding the interactive areas. This works almost fine but Zack's tactics are to just tap the screen and see if anything happens, he's not using any kind of higher strategy to complete the story or song. In a month he probably will.

Pocket Frogs Free

This is more of a leisure game and works fine for any ages - or rather anyone older than 3 maybe. Zack adores it but hasn't a clue of that he's supposed to lead the frogs to catch flies and at a certain size they should find another frog to merge with and produce new colorful patterned frogs. I'm getting nervous by him not doing it the right way, while he's happy with it for hours.

Monkey Preschool 7 kr

This is of course a very age specific game and it's not made for children below 3, and yet it's amazing to see how both puzzles, colors and fruits drop into the right gaps - even though it's in english! Not so sure it's good for his staggering swedish: Mamma, jag vill ha en banana!

Peek-a-Boo 15 kr

I almost forgot this lovely app for the absolutely youngest ones. The baby is just going to find the hidden animal in each image and there are three different levels of difficulty. It's short fun though and Zack is drop dead cute when looking through his fingers saying Peek-a-boo in english, but it's only taking a few minutes of his attention.

Art of Glow (7 kr)

Merge magazines and online shopping

Net-a-porter is taking a huge step towards what all magazines must become - and maybe all fashion online shopping devices as well. This is what you really want a traditional magazine to be, that has not been possible in print, but is online. It's a merge of instant online shopping and a glossy fashion magazine.

All images you see, even the ads, are linked to a shopping layer.

For navigation you both have the glossy cover, an image overview and the number of pages to flip from 1-49. All those versions are needed to find your way back to where you were, to get a grasp how much you have left of the experience and to get the full magazine feeling that you don't want to miss.

There are of course few articles, net-a-porter is an online shopping site, but those added are great presented, they are on fashion and illustrated with lots of images, more than in a traditional magazines as that many images would take too much space in the layouts.

Now I only long for additions of/from users - possibilites to add comments on everything as well as blogs and uploaded personal images according to each garment and article.

Let's Create! Pottery app

I'd say Polish Infinity Dreams had a female gamer in their mind when developing this great iPad app.

It's great looking, full of extra graphic elements that make me happy. It's not just to create your potter, but also to see polaroids of them, to sell them and to buy new beautyful patterns to decorate them further. It's the full dream, not only a small part of it made because someone discovered the technical possibility.

Introduction and pushing me further in the game play is made through a fake e-mail conversation with the game that encourages me to take step after step, just the way I'd like to be involved in any social community with too many details to learn at first visit. I learn it at the time I'm ready.

Also it's not crucial that my copy gets identical with the suggested original. I don't have to start over, and I don't loose anything. It's fun just to create, and I get rewarded with money to buy new patterns for if I can make it identical. This is probably one of the issues that is the most female friendly feature.

More about girls' games later...
