The question was asked this morning in Creuna's morning seminar as an extention to the 15 year old statement 'If you're not on the web you don't exist'. No, was the answer. Apps and web are complementary.
Well, if the core of your site is games or any kind of reading, then this might be true. With the new mobile devices and touch screens I guess no one will accept to stay put at a stationary computer using a mouse and a keyboard when doing fun leisure stuff - entertainment.
Also the habits of reading digital books and magazines can be so much improved through different applications that it feels most uncertain that the basic web format will compete.
